what is blue lagoon?
Blue Lagoon is an island. It's called Blue Lagoon because of the movie that was filmed there. It's a small island with a beautiful beach, and a gorgeous reef to snorkel.
what do you do at blue lagoon?
We spent almost all day in the water there. The fish are very social and arrive when the boat does, they know some food is coming. When you throw some pieces of bread in the water they will surround it entirely, they will eat it right out of your hand. There is beautiful coral, really colorful fish, and if you're lucky you can even run into an octopus or something more exotic. This spot is great if you're a beginner snorkeler, the reef is just a few meters away from the beach, so you can always stay on land if you prefer.
what to bring
This depends on your hotel, and the availability of boats. We didn't have to reserve at the Coral View, and most of the time they will just accommodate you. There are lots of different reefs, depending on the island you're on. If you're not close to the Blue Lagoon find one that is closer to you.

Normally the snorkel days will be your cheaper days. We paid $15 FJD, to get there and snorkel, it was well worth it.
is it worth it?
There is no store or kiosk to buy food. If you are someone who tends to get hungry, bring a snack from the hotel.
how to get there
Yes, it is a day that everyone in your group will enjoy. If there is someone in your group that doesn't like to snorkel or doesn't feel very comfortable in the water, they can feel safe and calm knowing that the beach is only a few meters away. All of the coral is beautiful and in good condition, especially considering the popularity of the spot. The guides will advise you on how the currents look that day, there are certain hours that it's strong, you have to be careful when you decide to get in.
If you're staying on the island you'll already be there! If not, you have to take a boat or seaplane to arrive. We stayed in the Coral View Resort and went to this spot almost every day. It took us 10 minutes to arrive by boat.
