

Il Duomo di Firenze

Possibly the most magnificent building in the world. Formally known as Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral was started in 1296 by Arnolfo di Cambio in a gothic style. It was completed in 1436 with the magnificent dome giving it its uniqueness was added on and completed by Filippo Brunelleschi. Giorgio Vasari's fresco of the Last Judgement is the biggest piece of artwork in the cathedral.

Galleria dell'Accademia

Galleria dell'Accademia is a beautiful art museum mostly known for Michelangelo's statue of David; along with many other finished and unfinished sculptures by Michelangelo. It also has a section of musical instruments from the 16th to 18th centuries.

Hours: Closed Mondays, Tuesday - Sunday 8:15 am - 6:50 pm

Ponte Vecchio

Ponte Vecchio, what a site for sore eyes this is. This bridge was originally a Roman bridge, and has since been rebuilt due to floods. It is also rumored that Hitler didn't destroy this bridge during the second world war because of it's uniqueness and beauty. Vasari Corridor was built by Cosimo di Medici I so the famous Medici family could cross the river without walking among the common people and peasants. It connects the Palazzo Pitti and the Uffizi Gallery. You can book a tour to cross this corridor, however, be sure to book months in advance. There is also a chance that it is closed for renovations so be sure to check before you book.

Santa Maria Novella

Created by Caterina de'Medici, this 16th century pharmacy was converted into a beautiful perfumery. It's beautiful architecture and unique scents are a must see, it's also a perfect place to buy a gift.

Calcio Storico
This intense and vicious game is a combination of football (soccer), rugby, and wrestling. There are four teams in different colors representing different districts of Florence (Santa Croce: blue; San Giovanni: green; Santo Spirito: white; Santa Maria Novella: red). It is played directly in the front of the church of Santa Croce.
