overall

Overall the Beachcomber Resort was really fun. It's made for partygoers, but have activities that could be fun for children. If you're only in Fiji for a short amount of time and want to get to an island close to Nadi and Port Denarau it's a good option.

cleanliness

The dorms and rooms at Beachcomber were really clean. The bathrooms were okay, the showers weren't the cleanest but weren't bad (I'd go in with flip flops regardless). The rooms get a little warm so if you can get a bed in direct path of a fan, do it. Aside from the bedrooms, bathrooms, and reception the whole resort is sand, so make sure you clean your feet completely before bed. The beds were alright. We have big cubbies underneath the bunk beds that have a lock, so you know your stuff is always safe and sound.

things to do

The beach off of beachcomber isn't full of sealife just meters off the coast. They do have boats that leave once or twice a day to snorkel spots for half an hour. Boats are provided to transfer you to Cloud 9, if you choose to spend the day there. There is a turtle sancutary on the island as well, it's small but nice. The walk around Bounty is pretty, especially at sunset. There is a volleyball court constantly in use. The main entrance of Beachcomber is on the beach, the bar and tables are in the sand, it's a really good place to go and chill, perfect if you just want to tan and basically do nothing.

price

Very fairly priced. Our dorm was a good size, it is even cheaper to stay in the gran droms. The food wasn't bad, especially since it was buffet style. They have several happy hours throughout the day and night which was great, you don't feel like it's a typical place trying to rip you off.

staff

One of the nicest hotels we stayed at. The staff is great, they are so helpful and are always making sure you're having the best time you could have. Since Beachcomber is known for it's partying there are people there 24/7 willing to help with anything you might need.

food

Beachcomber was great with food because it was buffet. So you could pick and choose how much you wanted. The food was good, it wasn't the best we had on the trip, definietly not the worst. There was good variety, and it was nice that we could help ourselves.

amenities

Amenities weren't provided, bath towels were available. The showers were hot! There was a little shop on the island that had some basic things and souvenirs for sale.

entertainment/nightlife

Beachcomber is known for it's nightlife and partying. If you are expecting some nightclub or Ibiza style island you will be disappointed. This is a real island type of partying. After dinner the music starts. Everyone at Beachcomber is expecting a fun night and everyone is in the main area. The music is good, you are free to request at any point. We had fire dancers the first night which was awesome, then we learned the Bula dance (kind of a Fijian Macarena). Once official entertainment was over the night goes on as you wish. The second night we stayed there was a hermit crab race, they auction off hermit crabs based on nations, whoever wins gets the prize money, it was a lot more fun than it sounds. We heard mixed reviews about the actual quality of nightlife, we stayed on a weekend and it was a lot of fun.

location

Beachcomber is close to the mainland, there were certain day tours available. Peronally, the night is more fun so I would stay over. A day trip is just going to a day on the beach on another island. The ferry stops right next to the resort. It is close to all the islands in the Mamanucas.

room variety

There are three different types of dorms: gran dorm (the big one), vesi dorm (small, 6 bunk beds), and an all girls dorm. There were also bures scattered all along the island, all with beautiful views.

shopping

This was one of two islands that actually had a little shop. You could buy little souvenirs from the hotel, and Fiji, along with essentials like a beach towl, sunblock, etc. There were also little snacks and treats available in the store.
