There are a few forms of entertainment in the evenings available at different hotels. Some of the traditional Fijian forms of entertainment are the fire walking, fire dancing, the bula dance, and parties same as anywhere else. This section will outline the best places to go out, and which islands have different types of entertainment.

Beachcomber Island Resort

Beachcomber Island is known as the "party island". Truth be told I was looking for a really relaxed, party-free, vacation, it didn't happen. We spent 3 nights there and it was really fun. On Saturday nights they have a fire show that was really impressive. The whole resort is in the sand, so you are partying in the sand which was a lot of fun.

There are 5 happy hours throughout the day and night so you can get liquid happiness for a good price. There is a DJ that is happy to take music suggestions. If you're looking for clubbing it's not your place, if you want fun music, and have a summer party in the sand you will love it.

There were also children at this resort, they had activities set up for everyone. There was a crab race and little auction before that everyone could get involved with. They also start the party by teaching the Bula dance that everyone gets into.

It's one of the resorts that stays open later, for a lot of the world it is not even the time you would leave your house, but in Fiji you wake up early and party earlier.

Not as party focused as the Beachcomber Island Resort (section above). There is a nice bar area down at the beach where they have shows a few times a week with traditional Fijian dances.

The lounge area downstairs is really fun to play games, watch sports games/movies, and just hang out. The bar is open all day. We just had dinner and went down to have a few drinks at the beach bar and relax.

Manta Ray Island Resort
Mango Bay Resort

This resort is beautiful and really comfortable. The view from the restaurant where all the meals are served is really beautiful. At night the bar is opened and music is played. There is a ping-pong table and game room full of games and tables. The outside is also available to enjoy with a pool table and a pool. It isn't a club setting, it is a nice place to relax.

A short 15 minute drive from Mango Bay to the Hideway Resort they have a fire walking show which was cool to watch, a little different than what I was expecting but an impressive experience nonetheless.

Coral View Resort

This resort doesn't have a lot of equipment to start a real dance party but we made some of the best memories here. The music was live, and beautiful. The staff that work there are so kind and inclusive.

We ordered some drinks and they came and played different games with us, it was a lot of fun. They taught us some local dances, as well put on a show with their own routines and classic dances, it was a really unique place to enjoy an evening, we were happy to get to spend time with these amazing people.

things to know about
partying in Fiji
  • You don't need to wear heels, most of the time you don't even need to wear shoes. (This goes to the places I  recommended, the fancier resorts may be different)

  • A deck of cards is always a fun way to make friends and play several drinking games, if you have one around bring it with you.

  • Club clothes aren't required, a lot of times we just wore a bikini and a wrap or a sundress, everything is more chill.

  • Bring an iPod, some places are happy to just have you plug in your music, make sure it has music that everyone will like but it's always welcome.

  • More than drinking alcohol, the locals drink Kava, you should try it - I wasn't a fan.

  • Bring your drink of choice, some islands are well stocked if there is a bar, some just have wine so if you feel like a cocktail you might want to bring your spirit of choice with you.
