No, there are a few boats ready to leave. You just need to be quick enough to get your stuff and get down to the beach where the boats leave from.

There will be a drum indicating they have sighted one, you get your snorkel gear and jump on the boat and head out. When one is spotted you will jump into the water and swim with them, they look bigger and scarier than they are (they only eat plankton).

You will only be out there for an hour or so and you are constantly jumping on and off the boat, there is no time to eat. No food or drinks are provided.

The price at manta ray resort is on the activity board. It is not expensive for getting to swim with them, it was less than 50 FJD.
is it worth it?
We left from Manta Ray Island Resort. A boat will take you to where they are, about a 5 minute boat ride. They swim fast, and swim up current. You will get dropped off up-stream and jump in and swim with them as much as you can until they out swim you, which might not take too long.
It's a once in a lifetime experience. Swimming with these majestic animals and seeing them be the most accomplished acrobats under water is very special.
